Robb Montgomery

Robb Montgomery is a Berlin based journalism professor, speaker and author of Smartphone Filmmaking and A Field Guide for Mobile Journalism.

He is the founder of Smart Film School, an e-learning platform with courses and tutorials that teach social video, mobile journalism and documentary filmmaking.

In 2012, Montgomery developed the smartphone reporting training, technology and workflows used by hundreds of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty broadcast reporters and correspondents. He also developed the world’s first mobile journalism lab, an innovative newsroom which is located in Tbilisi, Georgia and is used by Radio Liberty and several journalism schools.

As a journalism educator, he authors and produces diploma courses on mobile journalism at FH University (Vienna) and the EFJ School of New Journalism (Paris).

Since 2005, Montgomery has trained more than 10,000 storytellers in mobile journalism and design thinking and has collaborated with numerous organizations and institutions such as IREX, WAN-IFRA, SOAS University of London, Stockholm University, Danish School of Journalism, Michigan State University, and the University of Notre Dame, Reuters and CNN.
